TPA panels help protect the ground around a temporary dining marquee.
When it came to a temporary flooring system to help one of the world's top coeducational independent day and boarding schools meet social distancing guidelines, event production company Vision Group knew exactly who to turn to.
As previous users of temporary roadways supplied by specialist access solutions provider TPA, part of the Vp plc group, they referred back to the company when prestigious Wellington College needed to protect the ground around a marquee extension to its additional temporary dining facility.
TPA recommended first use of their new pedestrian trackway product which the supplier claims is one of the safest temporary flooring solutions available, thanks to a multi-directional anti-slip surface.
Quick and easy to install and recover, this new trackway flooring is delivered in sheets measuring 2.3m x 1.5m comprising 16 sections, ensuring it is incredibly durable and flexible, while its modular design is ideal for configurable access around temporary buildings and structures.
The 15m by 45m marquee for the college, which is set in 400 acres of beautiful grounds in leafy Berkshire, has enabled the school to better socially distance its 1,000+ pupils during mealtimes.
TPA’s trackway panels were specifically required to protect the ground around three entrances/ exits from the marquee which blocked one of the college’s main thoroughfares.
Complete with terram underlay and ramps, they were installed over a single day at the start of the new school year, and the school has extended the initial hire period agreed.
Vision Group, who have been Wellington College’s event production suppliers for 10 years, had most recently used TPA’s modular roadways for temporary lockdown accommodation for healthcare staff at the Royal Berkshire Hospital NHS Trust.
Project manager Sarah Hamilton said a TPA representative paid Wellington College a site visit the day before installation to double-check the requirements.
“They were really excellent. They worked around the college to ensure the panels could be put in place when the marquee was not being used.
“I think the college has been very happy with how it has worked, especially now we are in the wet and frosty season. They wanted the best product out there in terms of walking surface and TPA’s trackway panels have certainly delivered.”
The trackway’s “T-peg” design and integrated camlocks allow rapid deployment with minimum manpower and no specialist tools. Each self-draining 30mm thick panel, is inert and non-conductive, resistant to UV damage and solvents, and is non-corroding. Some 2,412m2 can be delivered on one artic.
Sarah added: “The ability of these trackway panels to be deployed quickly was convenient in terms of having them ready for the start of the new school year.”
